    Default Lexus Needs Servicing

I was leaving school this morning my Check VSC light came on. Supposedly if it may be caused by not tightening my gas cap all the way, hopefully that's what fixes it. If not then my after 32,000 miles my Lexus finally needs an unscheduled maintenance.

Also Alderson recently up their rental car age to 25, so hopefully I don't have to deal with taking my car into the dealership.

Tighten the cap and go to AutoZone, borrow their OBDII scanner/reader and reset the code.

Can you clear codes with the autozone tool?

Autozone employees are not allowed to clear CELs or any other codes from your ECU. However, I haven't ever met an employee that won't hand the scanner to you and tell you what buttons to push in order to clear the code!

Check VSC is not a check engine light. That sounds like something to do with tractoin control or something of th sort. Is it under warranty? if so, then why are you even asking here?
Yes, a loose gas cap and set a code, but I doubt check VSC is what the CEL reads. I would think it would say "service engine soon" or "check egine" ir just a picture of an engine.
I texted a Lexus/toyota tech, I'll post up when he reponds.

Oh and a scanner from autozone won't read anything but generic OBD engine codes.

Have you had your tires replaced recently? Are you running a spare?

It ended up being the gas cap and took almost 8 days and two fill ups to make the light go away.

    Damn fancy cars.

    Fender needs some love next.

My lug nuts require more torque than your car makes.

For sure. In addition to the damage I already had on the way back to Dallas I hit a big ass possum and a skunk, one of which basically broke off the left side of my front bumper and front spoiler.

I was able to my friend (w/ the STIs) garage in Dallas; and his paint and body people were able to pop the dent out of my fender, get rid of the rust, prevent any more rusting, and fixed a clip that prevented my bumper and spoiler from properly hanging.

Now I just have to go somewhere that can finish off the work so I can sell my car in September.
